Here’s why we think we are sustainable:
We are nice people, but sadly we don’t have a van. We have a kitchen bike! It’s powered by human energy. We can cycle and turn anywhere into a community event space, serving hot and cold surplus suppers. We collect the leftover fruit, veg, bread and dairy from markets, supermarkets and greengrocers (by bike or foot) and bring them into places of deprivation or social isolation turning them into feasts. We work with volunteers teaching new skills, sharing recipes and learning together. We get creative and waste nothing. We use real cutlery and wash them up. We don’t ask for much, just that guests connect with each other, proving fun and lunch can be free! Our clippings go into the compost to become new vegetables. Pretty sustainable! We hire 3 local people as project leaders every year and have an army of sessional workers and volunteers to support each and every event, gaining skills and reflecting the diversity of the areas we work in.
